Sustainability
Sustainability has many different aspects. It is all about striving to do your part in helping the environment, and preserving the world as we know it. Sustainability is all about living in a circle, meaning in order to be sustainable we must give back at least some of what we take.
Agriculture
In short, agriculture is the practice and science of growing and cultivating crops and raising livestock.
Sustainable Agriculture
Sustainable agriculture is all about giving back some of what we take from the environment, and lessening the amount of harmful impact we have on nature through agriculture specifically.
Nothing we do is complete:
No statement says all that should
be said;
No prayer fully confesses our
faith;
No set of goals and objectives
includes everything.
This is what we are about:
We plant seeds
that one day will grow
or maybe die;
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold
future promise;
We lay foundations
that will need further
development;
We provide yeast that produces
effects far beyond our
capabilities.
We cannot do everything,
and there is a sense of
liberation in realizing that.
This enables us to do something
and to do it very well.
It may be incomplete,
but it is a beginning;
A step along the way.
It is an opportunity
for divine grace to enter
and do the rest.
We may never see the results.
We are workers,
not master builders;
We are prophets of a future that
is not our own.
